26 Feb International Art Symposium
Leading artists from the USA, Pakistan and around the UK are heading for Brierfield this week for an International Arts Symposium.
The three day Symposium from 26 – 28 February has been organised by Brierfield based arts organisation In-Situ.
It starts with a colourful exhibition open to all at Brierfield Library and continues with talks and discussions at Brierfield Mill – now known as Northlight.
The event opens with the launch of a colourful free exhibition at Brierfield Library on Wednesday 26 February at 4pm – 7pm.
This is open to the public and Anyone interested is free to ‘drop in’ to view the exhibition.
The exhibition will continue to be held in the Library until 12 March and is open whenever the library is open
Called Right Here, Right Now, it’s an exhibition of 200 handmade postcards from artists in Lahore, Houston, Texas and the UK.
On Friday from 10.30am until 4pm Northlight will host a lively discussion with artists, arts development workers, creative individuals, Council officers and local arts organisations. It is a debate which will explore how international art projects can positively impact on places.
US artist Rick Lowe will be talking about his creative housing project in Houston and acclaimed artist Alnoor Mitha and Virginia Whiles from Chelsea College of Art and Design are among those taking part.
