The mill, has also served as the venue and inspiration for a range of arts and cultural events and activities over the last few years . Local creative arts organisation In –Situ –In Place has used the mill as a base and for a variety of inspirational exhibitions, workshops and community engagement arts events.
As part of the Super Slow Way project, a major mass community participation event took place in the mill in September 2016. Orchestrated by international artist Suzanne Lacy, the ‘Shapes of Water; Sounds of Hope’ event involved over 1700 participants, culminating in a large scale community banquet and a singing / sufi chanting event .
