Hartley Square

A modernised shopping precinct for Colne

About This Project

PEARL bought the 1960’s shopping precinct in the centre of Colne in 2013, two years after the company which owned it went into administration.

Pendle Council had already funded improvements to the environment in front of the shops with new sculptures and planters with superb floral displays all summer thanks to the Colne in Bloom team.

PEARL has continued the investment in this modernised shopping square. We’ve modernised all 14 shop frontages to boost business in this part of town, making it a really pleasant place to shop.

The whole precinct has had a total make-over and been re-named in honour of Colne’s hero Wallace Hartley, the brave bandmaster on the ill-fated Titanic.
