Shackleton Hall Arcade

Historic building & unique Victorian arcade

About This Project

This unique Victorian building in the heart of Colne was built in 1888. By the 21st century, the beautiful hall and arcade had suffered years of neglect and become so dilapidated it was placed on English Heritage’s at risk register.

In 2010, PEARL stepped in to rescue it. Seeing this as a once in a lifetime opportunity, we took up the challenge and radically transformed the listed building which was the former HQ of the Colne and District Co-op and sympathetically restored it to its former glory.

Shackleton Hall and Arcade, with its stunning Victorian façade and elegant arcade, is now enjoying a fresh lease of life in a thriving high street. It’s a stylish home for Housing Pendle, Pendle Community Credit Union and 11 fully let independent retail units, all with period shop fronts.
